Invitation to Consign: Books & Manuscripts
Paris, 22 April 2016
Christie’s Paris is pleased to announce its next Paris auction of Books & Manuscripts that will take place on 22 April.
Last year’s sales were led by a wide range of books and manuscripts — from incunabula and manuscripts to 21st century artists’ books and literature.
Lire en français (Read in French)
Our December sales totaled €3,313,938 including numerous books illustrated by Miró and bound by Paul Bonet, Leroux and P.L. Martin which exceeded their estimates alongside a splendid copy of Scènes de la vie privée by Balzac, bound with the symbol of Empress Marie-Louise, which achieved €32,500.
The sale of the Maurice Burrus collection on 15 December, where Renaissance book covers held a place of honour, brilliantly concluded the sale season led by a cover from 1552 made for the banker Marcus Fugger at €133,500. Furthermore, an edition of Chaucer illustrated by Burne-Jones and published by the Kelmscott Press, sold for the remarkable amount of €79,500.
Following the success of these sales, our specialists are currently inviting consignments to the upcoming auction. Please do not hesitate to contact Isabelle de Conihout or Patricia de Fougerolle for a free and confidential valuation of your books and manuscripts.
