SUNDIALS – Angiolo Maria COLOMBONI (1608-1672). ‘Practica Gnomonica’, partial manuscript copy of the first edition of 1669, [1st half 18th century]. Title, contents, text (copying the ‘Libro Secundo’ only) on 73 pages, tables on 101 leaves (reproducing only the tables for latitude (‘Altezza del Polo’) of 45 degrees), figures on 20 leaves (13 folding, two of these split through at folds), interleaved with ‘Modo di servirsi del presente Istromento’ (2 leaves), a note of the authors and a collection of mottos (1 f.) and ‘Regole generali’, concluding with miscellaneous supplementary notes on sundials and other matters, dated 1715, 1720, 1734 and 1739. Altogether approximately 175 leaves, 200 x 145mm (old dampstain affecting lower outer margin of scattered leaves). Card covers (somewhat soiled).
