Lot Essay

Bailey and Shrimpton became, in 1962, the archetypal photographer-model couple of the new London scene. For a few brief years they were the most prolific, successful and exemplary of the new generation. This image was the one selected to illustrate Bailey's work in a Sunday Times feature, 'The Model Makers', that was significant in reinforcing the popular mythology around three influential fashion photographers, Terence Donovan, Brian Duffy and Bailey.
