On Cahun's death in 1954, the collection stayed with Moore and was sold decades later after her death in 1972 in the Marcel Moore House Sale at Langlois, St Helier, Jersey.

Cahun plays with the duality of her nature with a photo-montaged double self-portrait set against the rocky landscape of Jersey.
