Lot Essay

"What has attracted the most attention has been Jake and Dinos Chapman's strategy of an ever more audacious manipulation of commercial mannequins to present a perverted, post-Freudian playground where anything seems possible. Sometimes disturbing, often plain daft, 'Chapmanworld' (as they called their first major public exhibition at the ICA in 1996), is an amoral bio-mayhem where genetic engineering has gone horribly wrong"
(L. Buck, Moving Target's: A User's Guide to British Art Now, London 1997, p. 72).
