Lot Essay

For me, Myth Venus is like a square, a circle, or a cone, it is the physical manifestation of a Platonic ideal, one we have all created unconsciously together that of the most beautiful woman in the world. The series of sculptures I made of Kate Moss were never portraits of Kate the real person, they are mirrors of our desire for perfection, for the impossible as gods and goddesses were in another Era. Myth Venus is white like a blank cinema screen.
I am really interested in the human need to create image which then shape u. We write a story then believe it to be true.
In Myth Venus the scale of the sculpture articulates that reality for me, we unconsciously create an ideal which then dominates and controls us.
