A child, in décolleté white dress, long curling fair hair
signed 'Augustin' (mid-left)
on ivory
oval, 2 3/8 in. (60 mm.) high, set in the cover of a silk-lined gilt-metal 'Palais-Royal' aide-memoire, the base centred with a mother-of-pearl plaque carved with acanthus leaves and scrolls and 'Souvenir', the final handwritten pages entitled 'Aux Mânes de ma bonne Mère' and 'A notre bon et cher petit Alfred', and printed calendar for 1819, with gilt-metal propelling pencil
