Lot Essay

The 'Karakusa Butterfly' brooch is part of a collection from Van Cleef & Arpels in collaboration with Japanese lacquer artist Junichi Hakose. Mr. Hakose’s workshop in Wajima, Japan employs traditional techniques in lacquerware. Each design is executed by hand with a refined skillset and is entirely unique.
