Christie's Presents Live Sale of Photographs
New York – Christie’s is pleased to announce Photographs, a live auction taking place at Rockefeller Center on 6 October. The sale will be on view at Christie’s Rockefeller Center galleries from October 2-5 by appointment only.
As a live auction on October 6th, Photographs will feature property by significant 20th century photographers including Ansel Adams, Diane Arbus, Constantin Brâncuși, Robert Frank, Peter Hujar and Robert Mapplethorpe alongside contemporary artists such as Adam Fuss, Candida Hofer and Hiroshi Sugimoto. Among the collections represented in the sale are a distinguished selection of sixteen photographs from The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Sold to Benefit Collections Care, including works by Brassaï, Anne Brigman, Alvin Langdon Coburn, Robert Frank, André Kertész and Eadweard Muybridge. Also included in the live auction are 53 photographs from Always in Style: Property from the Collection of Herbert Kasper.
In a first for a major auction house, the sale will also include an NFT work by Justin Aversano. Aversano’s Twin Flames #83. Bahareh & Farzaneh, accompanied by Twin Flames Full Physical Collection, 2017-2018 (Estimate: $100,000-150,000) is a series of 100 portraits of twins and is a visual elegy to the twin that the artist never knew. Each portrait is printed as a unique framed edition and minted as a non-fungible token. The lot includes a non-fungible token (NFT) of the cover image of his self-published book, along with a set of chromogenic print of each of the 100 images in the series.
