CHRISTIE’S ANNOUNCES A STELLAR LINEUP OF INTERNATIONAL MASTERPIECES SPANNING ACROSS THE 20TH & 21ST CENTURIES

Hong Kong – On 1 and 2 December, Christie’s continued leadership in the international art market and unparalleled global influence will bring together a spectacular series of sales featuring top artworks from around the world and across the 20th & 21st Centuries. From Pablo Picasso to Sanyu to Jean-Michel Basquiat, never before has the auction market seen such unprecedented masterpieces collectively featured in a single saleroom. Spanning across generations, geographies, and artistic styles, Christie’s is proud to present four highly anticipated auctions with a combined total low estimate over HK$1.3 billion/ US$167 million. From international established artists to rising stars, this season will have 20th/21st Century Art Evening Sale: Worlds In A Hand, 20th/21st Century Art Evening Sale, 21st Century Art Day Sale, and 20th Century Art Day Sale.

Taking center stage and opening the 20th & 21st Century Art auction series on the evening of 1 December is “Worlds in A Hand”, a thematic Evening Sale which invites art connoisseurs on a voyage connecting the glory of the past with the opening of the future. Seminal works will anchor the sale, from Gerhard Richter and Adrian Ghenie to Sanyu, Zao Wou-ki, and Chu Teh-chun, to leading contemporary artists such as Jonas Wood and Nicolas Party. ‘Worlds in a Hands’ aims to trace the flights of passage between geographies, traverse time periods and artistic movements, and navigate the terrains within and between abstraction and figuration.
