Six Rings – Legacy of the GOAT Achieves Record Price for a Michael Jordan Rookie Card
New York – Six Rings – Legacy of the GOAT, an online-only sale dedicated to the legacy of Michael Jordan, achieved 100% sold by lot and totaled $1,488,690. 54% of all registrants were new to Christie’s.
The top lot of the sale was a Michael Jordan Upper Deck Signed 1986 Fleer #57 Rookie Card, which achieved $1,008,000 and achieved a record price for a Michael Jordan Rookie Card.
Caitlin Donovan, Head of Department, Sneakers & Streetwear, Christie’s, remarked: “The results of the sale demonstrate the strength and potential of the sneakers and sports collectible market, achieving 100% sell-through by lot and attracting many first-time registrants to Christie’s. The top lot achieved a new record price for a Michael Jordan Rookie Card, which sold for over $1 million. We look forward to building upon the success of this inaugural auction as we expand into this new market.”
Additional results of the sale include: a pair of Michael Jordan game-worn and dual-signed Player Exclusive Air Jordan Low XIII sneakers, which sold for $378,000, and a pair of dual-signed Air Jordan VII ‘Bordeaux’ sneakers, which realized $40,320.
