Christie’s Hong Kong presents
28 November | Live Auction | Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre
Hong Kong – Further to the announcement of Magnificent Jewels from the Collection of Rosamund Kwan (please click here for the dedicated press release), Christie’s Hong Kong is excited to announce the offering of another superb selection of more than 130 lots, consisting of radiant coloured and colourless diamonds, impeccable jadeites, exquisite rubies, emeralds, sapphires, and much more, which are sure to leave jewellery aficionados in awe, at the eagerly anticipated Magnificent Jewels autumn live auction on 28 November.
Taking centre-stage is an Exceptional Jadeite Cabochon White Sapphire and Diamond Necklace by Etcetera, with an estimate of HK$20 million – 30 million. The 22 cabochons and 44 accompanying jadeite claws in this necklace were all cut from an extraordinary piece of rough, widely known in the trade as “The Treasure of Myanmar”. The dazzling, very pure and translucent white ground, suffused with numerous thick vivid green veins, make this one of the most distinctive of all rough jadeites discovered in Myanmar in the 21st century. The translucency of the material inspired Edmond Chin of Etcetera to craft a necklace of twisting waves, with the purest diamonds inlaid into white sapphire, alternating with the brilliant green cabochons. As a final touch, he commissioned 44 jadeite claws as support for the main stones, to further enhance the impression of waves and give movement to the necklace.
COLOURED AND COLOURLESS DIAMONDS
The diminishing supply of top quality coloured and colourless diamonds, and the emergence of new and younger buyers in recent years, has caused prices for diamonds with the best colour/clarity, remarkable size, and impeccable craftsmanship, to soar higher and higher at auction.
Christie’s Hong Kong is delighted to continue our heritage of offering the best diamonds at auction, with the Exquisite Diamond Rivière Necklace of 104.84 Carats. A necklace with 52 D colour, FLAWLESS to INTERNALLY FLAWLESS clarity diamonds with excellent cut, polish, and symmetry is extremely rare, and to be composed of diamonds of such quality ranging from 7.14 to 1.07 carats is simply extraordinary. This is definitely one of the finest and most exquisite rivière necklaces one can expect to find in the market.
RUBIES, SAPPHIRES AND EMERALDS
Burmese “Pigeon’s Blood” Rubies, Kashmir sapphires, and Colombian emeralds, particularly those without any heat or artificial treatment, remain the most sought after, valuable, alluring, and rare gemstones in the world. As the mines producing these top-quality gemstones are becoming increasingly exhausted, whenever these dazzling treasures appear at auction, they generate fierce competition and often fetch exceptionally high prices in Christie’s global salerooms.
JADEITES
This season’s captivating and exquisite jadeite pieces are led by An Exceptional Jadeite Bangle (HK$25 million – 35 million), featuring an exceptionally vivid green colour and superb translucency. Another highlight among the offerings is A Magnificent Jadeite “Guanyin” Carving (HK$9 million – 13 million) in glowing vivid green and with excellent translucency. Belonging to a private collector, the piece was meticulously carved out of thick jadeite and is of an impressive size. Pictured below on a white nephrite stand, the piece can also be worn as a pendant. Rounding off the jadeite selection is a group of exclusive jadeites from a private collector who has been collecting the finest jadeite for over 30 years. The top lot of the group is a pair of tri-colour jadeite bangles (HK$2.8 million – 3.8 million), bound to be highly coveted by jadeite enthusiasts.
