PARIS - Lionel Gosset, head of Collections: « We are very extremely pleased with the results of this sale, which realised a total of €2,632,769; demonstrating once again the growing interest of connoisseurs in these Interiors sales, that offer lots from all categories, under the aegis of a taste-maker. Indeed, over 77% of the lots were sold, purchased by European and international collectors alike; placing their bids over the phone, on the internet through Christie’s LiveTM, and in person in the saleroom. The lots originating from private collections were particularly successful, as shown by the Fritz Schlumpf collection where 100% of the lots were sold (please see separate post-sale release), and that of Jean Hugues for his gallery Le Point Cardinal, which offered two marble sculptures by Augustin Cardenas (lots 5 and 9) that were sold for €55,000 and €37,500 respectively. Finally, many buyers pushed the doors to the Christie’s saleroom for the first time, participating in a record-breaking sale since the creation of this cross-category genre in 2001 ».
