New York – Christie’s Watches Online is pleased to present: Watches Online: A New Decade of Time the inaugural watch auction of 2020 occurring from February 25th through March 10th. With over 200 lots, this sale contains a plethora of watches for all timepiece collecting interests spanning vintage to contemporary with bids beginning at $1,000 and going up to $80,000.

Highlights include an A. Lange & Söhne, Lange 1 Tourbillon ($60,000 - 80,000), the highly desirable Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 3800/1 ($35,000 - 50,000), and the collector pursued W-serial numbered Rolex, “Zenith”, Daytona Ref. 16520 with its lightly developing “tropical” style “Patrizzi” sub-registers ($20,000 - 40,000). Vintage enthusiasts will also be pleased to come across selections such as the ultra-rare gold Vacheron Constantin “Turnograph” Ref. 6782 ($12,000 – 18,000), from a production of only 100 pieces. Additionally, this sale offers a comprehensive selection of ladies’ timepieces spanning brands such as Breguet, Bulgari, Cartier, Chopard, Omega, and Van Cleef & Arpels.

Also, featured in the sale is a paired lot of Longines, Two Split Second Chronograph Pocket Watches, previously owned and used by Jean Pitallier the official timer of the Tour de France through the 1970's, ref. 7411 & ref. 8350 ($8,000-10,000); used to time the cycling race during his tenure (pictured left is one of the two pocket watches). Accompanying the two watches are a trove of archival materials including chronometer papers, contracts, instructions, speeches, private correspondences, and results.

                                               

Bidding begins on 25 February at 10 a.m. EST closing lot by lot on 10 March at 10 a.m. EST. All lots will be on public view at Christie’s New York from 27 February to 5 March.
