Hong Kong – Christie’s is honoured to present “The Titanium and Ruby Collection”, the most valuable single-owner collection of Patek Philippe timepieces ever offered in Asia, with a total low estimate of US$12/HK$93 million. This landmark collection, comprising models from the vintage, modern and contemporary era, has been devotedly assembled by the owner over the space of two decades, presenting some of the rarest examples known to the global watch community. The collection will be offered across Christie’s Hong Kong July and Autumn auctions this year. Media and public viewing dates will be announced shortly.

Alexandre Bigler, Vice President and Head of Watches, Christie’s Asia Pacific, commented, “Continuing our leadership in offering the finest Patek Philippe timepieces at auction in Asia, and off the back of our record-breaking sale of the Patek Philippe Ref. 2523 for HK$70,175,000 last Autumn, it is our utmost privilege to be presenting this legendary collection this year. We have no doubt that the sale will mark a monumental moment in auction history and will convene the world’s greatest collectors and connoisseurs.”

Among the collection, leading the July sale is A ONE-OF-A-KIND AND UNIQUE TITANIUM TONNEAU SHAPED AUTOMATIC MINUTE REPEATING ANNUAL CALENDAR WRISTWATCH, REF. 5033, CIRCA 2003 (HK$6,200,000-12,000,000/ US$800,000-1,500,000, shown top left), and another top highlight is AN HIGHLY ATTRACTIVE AND POSSIBLY UNIQUE 18K GOLD AUTOMATIC PERPETUAL CALENDAR WRISTWATCH WITH MOON PHASES AND RUBY NUMERALS, REF. 3448/8, CIRCA 1965 (HK$3,900,000-6,200,000/ US$500,000-800,000, shown top right).

Reasons why watch enthusiasts cannot miss this opportunity to purchase these rare Patek Philippe timepieces:

Rarity

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire 16 vintage and modern minute repeaters, ranging from the exceptional vintage reference 2524/1J up to the one-of-a-kind and unique titanium example of a modern reference 5033, in a single auction.

Craftsmanship

A Patek Philippe minute repeater is a work of art, renowned for its chiming complications which embody the pinnacle of a watchmaking craftmanship. Every part of the watch is carefully adjusted and assembled to have the tempo, pitch, duration and volume of the chime, coming together in perfect unison like a tiny mechanical orchestra.

Variety

The present owner of this important collection also developed a strong appetite for some of the most sought-after models from the vintage era ranging from chronographs, such as reference 130J or 1579J, to perpetual calendar chronographs, such as the legendary models of the 1518J or 2499J, building up to the only known & possibly unique PP3448/8J with ruby indexes.
