Sale Overview

The Collector returns to Christie’s London, Paris and New York as the international platform for connoisseurs and collectors of Decorative Arts. The sales are brought to you as a three-part series, with all lots opening for browsing on 3 April, bidding on 10 April and closing consecutively by sale location on 23rd, 24th and 25th April. The Collector includes important European, English and 19th-century furniture and objects, porcelain, silver, gold boxes and works of art dating from the 16th to the 20th century, all of which highlight the enduring craftsmanship and beauty of exceptional works of art.  

The London sale is distinguished by pieces with rich provenance from important British and European collections including the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, the family of Louis XVI, the Bayreuth collection of silver and the Earls Fitzwilliam at Wentworth Woodhouse. 

Highlights include a royal Louis XVI marquise from the celebrated suite supplied to the comtesse de Provence for the pavillon de musique at Montreuil, a pair of George II mahogany side chairs attributed to William Hallett, a pair of Meissen kakiemon vases, circa 1740, a magnificent Napoleon III ‘Boulle’ commode attributed to Winckelsen, A Swiss Gold Oblong Singing Bird Box, Circa 1860 and a Pair of Charles II silver-gilt dressing-table canisters.
