New York Luxury Sales witness new heights at auction
Christie’s New York Luxury Sales achieved US$52,929,073, led by the largest and most expensive Fancy Intense blue diamond ever sold at auction — the Cullinan Dream — which realised an extraordinary price of US$25,365,000.
The three sales from the Jewellery, Watch and Wine departments comprised the series, realising an overall sell-through rate by value of over 90% and signifying the demand for luxury items of the highest quality in a competitive market.
In addition to the magnificent blue diamond, a Vacheron Constantin platinum minute repeating wristwatch from 1951 — which realised US$605,000 over an estimate of US$200,000–400,000 — and a vertical of Pétrus — which realised US$46,550 over an estimate of US$30,000–40,000 — were the top lots of the week.
Following the strong results in New York, we look forward to welcoming you to the conclusion of our spring season with our Jewels auctions in London.
