Messi: The Boots That Made History | Sold for Charity

Online Auction | 19–30 April

Until online bidding closes

On 22 December 2020, Lionel Messi took to the pitch for his 749th game for FC Barcelona. He was about to make football history. In his previous match, Messi had managed to equal Pelé’s long-standing record for the most goals for a single club ever scored. Now, in the game’s 65th minute, he geared up to break that record. Messi collected Pedri’s pass and calmly slotted past the Real Valladolid goalkeeper to make the scoreline 3–0, pointing to the sky in celebration. 644 goals for FC Barcelona: a momentous moment for football fans around the globe.

Now, the historic adidas boots used to score this famous goal come to auction, open for online bidding from 19–30 April. Dual signed and donated by Lionel Messi himself, the boots are being sold in aid of the Hospital Vall d'Hebron’s Art and Health programme after initially being displayed at the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya.
