Christie’s Modern and Contemporary Art, Asia Pacific department is dedicated to showcasing works by leading masters of the modern era as well as contemporary luminaries and emerging artists from around the world.
Christie’s pioneered the first sale dedicated to the category of Asian contemporary art in 2004, and presented the market’s first evening sale in the category in 2008. Since then, we have expanded our biannual sales in Hong Kong to encompass work by a range of modern and contemporary artists from around the world, ranging from Zao Wou-Ki, Yoshitomo Nara and Yayoi Kusama to Gerhard Richter and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Our evening sales have also set world auction records for George Condo, and made headlines for selling the most expensive still life by Sanyu.
