Based in London, Paris and New York, Christie’s international specialists of European Ceramics and Glass has over 70 years of combined experience. Working collaboratively, the team regularly brings to market significant examples of English and Continental pottery, porcelain and glass from the 15th to 21st centuries.

The ceramics team has realised exceptional sale results with pieces from all major factories and workshops, including those of Berlin, Chelsea, Doccia, Du Paquier, Meissen, Minton, Royal Copenhagen, Vincennes/Sèvres, Theodore Deck and Wedgwood — to name but a few. The department also excels in Italian maiolica and Hispano Moresque pottery. A menu of sale platforms including The Exceptional Sale, The Collector Sales, tailored online sales and single-owner private collections allows Christie’s specialists to match the right buyers with each piece.

    Matilda Burn

    Specialist, Head of European Ceramics & Glass

    London

    Matilda Burn graduated from the University of Warwick (First Class) with a BA in Art History, and she then gained an MA in Art History at the Courtauld Institute, London. Between 2010 and 2011 Matilda worked as a cataloguer in the Sir John Soane Museum, principally cataloguing drawings, before joining Christie’s in 2011. Matilda began her career at Christie’s in the House Sales department, and joined the London Ceramics and Glass department in 2012 as a specialist, covering British and European ceramics and glass dating from the medieval period through to circa 1900.
