Fine and Rare Wines featuring Cellar Selections of Vega Sicilia

Christie’s is delighted to offer one of the most comprehensive collections of pre-war Unico ever to come to the auction block. Originally from a Spanish owner in Madrid, many of the wines were reconditioned by the Vega Sicilia cellar master Xavier Ausas in February of 2013—who admitted himself that Vega Sicilia would have gladly bought this collection for the winery’s library. This offering is a rare opportunity to purchase multiple bottle lots of Vega Sicilia from the ‘20s, ‘30s, ‘40s, including magnums and several bottles of the legendary Unico White 1938—a wine so rare that even Mr. Ausas had never tried it prior to seeing this collection. This sale also features a roll call of great wines from France: Bordeaux, Jayer, Leroy and DRC are all represented.
