Maritime Pictures

Maritime Art demonstrates the vital role played by the sea in the history and economy of the world, from the 17th century to the present day. The paintings that we sell not only reflect this importance, but also a diversity of subject matter; encompassing large naval battles, merchant shipping in exotic locations, and modern yacht racing.

With nearly 30 years’ experience in Maritime Art, Christie’s has been the recognised leader in the field since the sales were established. Our unrivalled expertise has produced world auction records and exceptional prices for paintings by artists such as Montague Dawson, John Wilson Carmichael, Peter Monamy, Francis Holman, Charles Brooking, Thomas Luny and Jamie Medlin.

Christie’s offers Maritime Art paintings in a range of carefully selected sales around the globe, including Old Masters, European Art and British Art in London and New York.
