AN AMUSING PAIR OF GEM-SET "RAJAH" BROOCHES, BY VAN CLEEF & ARPELS
One designed as a seated sculpted gold rajah of openwork design, holding a rock crystal ball, set with a rose-cut diamond face and circular-cut sapphire ear pendants, the polished gold turban and costume enhanced by circular-cut ruby and sapphire trim, to the cabochon emerald pantaloons; together with another brooch of similar design, depicting a genie playing a lute, mounted in 14k gold, circa 1947
