Marked Fabergé with the Imperial warrant and with the workmaster's mark of Julius Rappoport, St.Petersburg, 1896-1908, with scratched inventory number 14251
Rectangular with rounded ends, on four fluted legs, with silver foliate pine-cone feet and laurel and husk mount, the stretcher with similar finial and beaded mounts, the legs with ribbon-tied laurel festoon upper mounts, supporting a frieze with rosettes at the angles and panels with foliate borders, the drawer applied with laurel wreath oval keyhole with ribbon cresting, with similarly decorated aperture to the back, the surface with beaded border and foliate rim mounts, fully marked

Lot Essay

Fabergé workshops executed furniture pieces on many occasions along two principle guidelines, either by creating and executing them using unusual products such as nephrite and silver- see Christies New York 19 October 2001, lot 139, a unique Empire style silver- mounted nephrite gueridon or enhancing already made furniture with specificly designed silver mounts. Such furniture is extremely rare on the market as only few examples have survived.
