Lot Essay

In his notes of 1987 and 2000 Tony Mottola writes that this guitar was originally custom made for Charlie Christian. After the death of Christian, Mottola purchased the guitar from Eddie Bell, Gibson's New York agent. He states it is the electric guitar most used throughout his career and can be heard on numerous early recordings.
