Lot Essay

In 1924 Hermann Hauser first met guitar virtuoso Andres Segovia. This encounter allowed Hauser to study Segovia's famous Manuel Ramirez/Santos Hernandez guitar and would influence his making from then on. This example, made in 1925, illustrates Hauser's ability to embrace the ideas of the Spanish School. It lays the foundation for his later work that earned him the reputation as the greatest classical guitar maker outside of Spain.
