Lot Essay

Rose Bowl by Habitat out of Roselière was a bay filly foaled in 1972. Raced by Mrs. Engelhard and trained like Romulus and Ile de Bourbon by Fulke Johnson Houghton in England, Rose Bowl developed into a champion at three when she won the Champion Stakes and Queen Elizabeth II and should certainly have won the One Thousand Guineas apart from gross bad luck in running. Unlike her mother she was just about as good at four, again winning the Queen Elizabeth II and losing the Champion by a neck only. She raced once in America in the Washington International on her way to stud.
