Lot Essay

During the early 1960s Mollino created several promenade dragons, each with their own unique hand-painted decoration, which were presented to close friends. This example was created for one of Mollino's flight instructors, Commandante Vignoli, and bears an inscription specific to this presentation. In addition to his other noted interests, Mollino was a passionate flier, with a keen interest in acrobatic flight and in aircraft design.
