Lot Essay

Attributing her love of John's work to her mentors, Mrs Cazalet-Keir once commented, 'The late Sir Edward Marsh and my mother were chiefly responsible for my present collection. My mother bought the beautiful small John panels from the Chenil Gallery in the early days' (see exhibition catalogue, Private Views, London, 1963).
