MARK OF ROBERT GARRARD, LONDON, 1858
Each shaped circular with crimped rim, with scroll handle and detachable extinguisher, the socket with detachable nozzle, engraved with two crests below a duke's coronet and engraved underneath with initials 'JDM' below a duke's coronet, each marked on side, on extinguisher and on nozzle, the base further stamped 'Garrards, Panton Street London

The crests and initials are those of John Winston Spencer Churchill, 7th Duke of Marlborough (1822-1883). (2)
