Details
A GEORGE III SILVER TEAPOT
MARK OF PAUL STORR, LONDON, 1816
Compressed cylindrical and on a spreading lobed foot, the body applied with four double serpent and satyrs' masks, the short spout cast with a palmette and scrolls, with an ivory handle, the hinged cover with an egg-and-dart border and engraved with a crest, the foot engraved 'Viscount Downe 1833', marked near handle and inside cover, the base further stamped '904'
10 5/8 in. (27 cm.) wide
gross weight 35 oz. (1,093 gr.)
The crest is that of Heathcote possibly for John Heathcote (1767-1833), MP for Ripon. His sister, Lydia (d.1848), married the Rev'd William, 6th Viscount Downe (1772-1846) in 1811, it is probable that the teapot was given to their son William, 7th Viscount Downe (1812-1857) by his uncle John Heathcote.
Special Notice
No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 15% will be added to the buyer's premium which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis.
