MARK OF GEORGE WICKES, LONDON, 1723
Bullet shaped and on a stepped collet foot, engraved at the shoulder with a band of foliage scrolls, lattice work and masks, with a tapering ten sided spout and a carved wood handle, the hinged cover with a baluster finial, engraved with a coat-of-arms, marked under base and inside cover, the base further engraved with a scratchweight '16=12'
8¾ in. (12.3 cm.) long
gross weight 16 oz. (498 gr.)
The arms are those of Shelley, possibly for Sir John Shelley, 4th Bt. (1691/2-1771).
