A German gilt-metal and green-ground porcelain-mounted ebonized bonheur-du-jour
Last Quarter 19th Century
Decorated allover with porcelain plaques painted with courting couples, the upper section with breakfront top and three-quarter balustrade mounted with six putti dressed in 18th century costume, above a central cupboard door opening to a single shaped shelf, over a single short drawer flanked to each side by a pair of floral-painted baluster columns and by four further drawers, the sides each with an oblong plaque decorated with three songbirds perched on a branch, the lower section with shaped top, over three frieze drawers, the angles each with a male term emerging from a scrolled volute, on acanthus-molded baluster supports terminating in a scrolled base mounted to the front with two Muses and joined by a stretcher mounted with a Bacchic putto
