Lot Essay

Nalini Malini has been known to paint portraits in her career, though from memory. Nalini Malani befriended the performance artist, N. Pushpamala after she had just moved to Mumbai and was discovering the city. Malani found Pushpamala's reactions to the city endearing and intriguing and this is what motivated her to immortalize her expressions on to canvas.
