AUDEMARS PIGUET. A RARE 18K PINK GOLD RECTANGULAR WRISTWATCH WITH TWO-TONE DIAL
THE PROPERTY OF A PRIVATE COLLECTOR (LOTS 219-225) The watch making firm of Audemars Piguet combines the extraordinary talents of Jules-Louis Audemars (1851- 1918) and Edward-Auguste Piguet (1853- 1919). From an early age the childhood friends showed a keen interest and considerable talent in the field of horology and in 1875 they joined forces to produce high quality complicated timepieces. Audemars was the firm's technical director, while Piguet was the commercial and financial director. Their leadership and contributions led to the finest timepieces of the day like a minute repeating split-seconds chronograph pocket watch (c. 1885) or a similar watch but with added perpetual calendar (c. 1890). The present collection represents both the technical craftsmanship of Audemars Piguet as seen by the triple calendar with moon phase model and the elegance of style displayed by the two-tone gold and sapphire-set square wristwatch.
