Lot Essay

In 1975 a 10 x 35 foot triptych of this work was printed and installed at the Marlborough Gallery. The original mural sized print was included in the Richard Avedon: Portraits exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York in 2002. The present edition was made in the same year, 1975. Out of a projected edition of 50 only 25 were realized.
