Lot Essay

Accompanied by Patek Philippe Certificat d'Origine et de Garantie, envelope, sales tag, presentation box, outer packaging and a case opener. Furthermore delivered with the Extract from the Archives confirming the production of the present watch in 1963 and its subsequent sale on 21 January 1964. To the best of our knowledge this watch is the only example of reference 3428 in platinum known to exist to date.

Reference 3428, introduced in 1960, is the successor of Patek Philippe's first model featuring a self-winding movement, reference 2526 (see lots 78 and 190 in this sale). Whereas reference 2526 is fitted with the celebrated calibre 12'''600, reference 3428 is equipped with the second generation self-winding movement, calibre 27-460.

For an example of reference 3428 in pink gold see lot 95 in this auction.

The icy beauty of its platinum case combined with the traditional enamel dial, confirmed by the Certificat d'Origine et de Garantie, the original accessories and the excellent, like new overall condition still retaining the "Automatic Waterproof" sticker to the back render the present watch a trophy for the discerning collector.
