soft-ground etching and aquatint plus soft-ground transfer pencil drawing, circa 1882, on Frères and thin wove paper respectively, the print Breeskin's fourth (final) state, a fine, atmospheric impression with rich plate tone, both signed in pencil, with full margins (deckle along all sides) and the full sheet respectively, (print) with surface soiling (primarily in the margins), occasional diagonal creasing (partially affecting the image), a few areas of stray ink in the margins, two small losses at the upper right margin edge, a 2-in. paper inclusion along the lower right margin edge, three brown ink stains at the reverse of the right margin edge (showing through), pencil notations at the lower margin edge, hinge and glue remains at the reverse of the upper and lower left corners (with associated skinning), (drawing) with offset oil staining and handling creases throughout, heavy greenish soiling (presumably from mordant) and a repaired tear at the upper left margin corner, otherwise both in good condition
