drypoint in umber, 1889, on laid paper, the seventh (final) state, signed in pencil, inscribed 'épreuve d'essai' (the edition was 25, Breeskin notes that Cassatt may have incorrectly inscribed prints later in life), with margins, minor surface soiling, a few foxmarks, the R. Hartshorne inkstamp at the reverse of the lower left image (slightly showing through), a ½-in. tear at the lower left margin corner, otherwise in good condition
