Lot Essay

This and the following five lots bear testament to the brilliance of one of the greatest portrait photographers of all time. The few scattered prints that exist (virtually no negatives survive), are unique relics, treasures saved from the wreck that demonstrate Deakin's ability and talents. This is Christie's second offering from the Collection of Georgina Barker.
