Lot Essay

Untitled (Folding Screen) is a delightful example of pre-pop Warhol. The bright, candy-colored illustrations and exhuberant characters create a whimsical and jovial atmosphere. Many of the illustrations and characters are very similar to those in Warhol's 1955 book, In the Bottom of My Garden and Untitled (Folding Screen) was used as a backdrop during Warhol's signing of this book at Serendipity restaurant in New York City.
