Lot Essay

A sportsman, conservationist and self-taught artist, Bone was born and continues to live in rural Zimbabwe, residing close to the Zambezi Valley which offers plentiful subjects for his work. He has traveled extensively in southern Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, Namibia, Mozambique as well as in India and the Far East. The realism of his works comes in part from his personal experience, having been charged by a bull-elephant and having studied at first hand lions and rhinos whilst hidden in the bush.
