AN EXQUISITE ALEXANDRITE, PINK TOURMALINE AND DIAMOND FLOWER RING, BY WALLACE CHAN

Centering upon an oval-shaped alexandrite weighing approximately 16.80 carats, within pear-shaped rose-cut diamond and cabochon pink tourmaline petals, to the pavé-set diamond trim, mounted in 18k pink gold and titanium band, ring size 5¾

Signed Wallace Chan

With report no. GRS2002-03347 dated 22 March 2002 from the Gem Research Swiss Lab stating that the 16.80 carat is a natural alexandrite with prominent color change from green in daylight to purplish-red in incandescent light

Further Details
The floral ring with the gemstone alexandrite at its centre is designed to display the stone's two stunning colours to their best effect. In sunlight, the gem exhibits the golden green-blue of a cool water lake. At dawn, the same gem turns an enchanting purple-red. In this piece, the artist-jeweller seeks to display that magical entanglement of two entirely different colours, that mysterious shock of colour combination. This ostentatious show of colour displays an acute sensitivity to light and reflection. For an added dimension, diamonds and pink tourmaline surrounds are arranged harmoniously, like the petals of a flower, giving scintillation and life to the design.
