Circular and on pedestal foot, the body part-fluted and with two leaf-capped bracket handles and with shell, foliage and gadrooned rim, the cover with detachable reeded handle, the body engraved twice with a coat-of-arms, the cover engraved twice with a crest, marked on side, on cover bezel and handle, with plated liner and later French plated stand by Plasait Orfèvre

The arms are those of Codrington impaling Sturgeon, for Sir Edward Codrington (1770-1851) and his wife Anne.
