A VICTORIAN SILVER SOUP TUREEN, COVER AND LINER
MARK OF PAUL STORR, LONDON, 1838
Lobed circular and on four scroll feet, with two scroll handles and ribbon tied reeded rim, the conforming cover with loop and foliage handle, with conforming liner, each piece later engraved with a cypher below a baron's coronet, marked near handle, inside cover, on liner and on handle, the base further stamped 'Storr & Mortimer 111'
14 3/8 in. (36.5 cm.) wide over handles
139 oz. (4,313 gr.)
The cypher is that of the Barons Ashburton, perhaps for Louisa Caroline Baring (1827-1903), second wife of William Bingham Baring, 2nd Baron Ashburton (1799-1864).
