Château Léoville-Las-Cases--Vintage 1990
Saint-Julien, 2me cru classé. Château-bottled
Tasting note: First tasted at the château in June 1992: deep, dumb; sweet fruit, high extract, oaky. High marks at the MW tasting in 1994. More than holding its own at the blind tasting of 1990s in Luzern in 1996: fragrant, silky texture. Most recently: wonderfully deep, rich but mature (needed decanting); restrained but harmonious; a powerful, fleshy wine, tannins both silky and swingeing. Last noted at Christie's Three Léovilles Tasting, March 2001 ***(**) 2010-2030. Michael Broabent, Vintage Wine
