A swag of flowers hanging in a niche

The present painting can be compared to a Cartouche decorated with swags of flowers, signed and dated 1659, sold at Christie's, New York, 10 January 1990, lot 90.

We are grateful to Fred Meijer of the RKD for confirming the attribution, and for suggesting a date of circa 1660, on inspection of the original.
