A BÖTTGER BLACK GLAZED RED STONEWARE OCTAGONAL VASE AND COVER
CIRCA 1710-12
Of baluster form with waisted neck, sloping shoulder and bulbous lower part, glazed to simulate Oriental lacquer, the borders with a gilt double-line, the underside of the shoulder with a band of diaper ornament, the lower part with incised radiating foliage on a flared octagonal foot with a band of gilt scroll ornament, the octagonal cover with a knop finial (slight blemish to lower part, extensive wear to gilt borders, the finial a restored replacement)
