Lot Essay

To the left is Emy Schmidt-Rottluff, the painter's wife. Next to her is Gudrun Peters, the eldest daughter Dr Victor Peters, who was one of Schmidt-Rottluff's early patrons. Gundrun probably visited the painter and his wife in 1932. Another portrait of Gudrun was executed the same year.
