Designed as an ornately chased gold hinged band, the central sculpted steel plaque, depicting Neptune adorned by a gold crown and trident, his cockle-shell chariot drawn by sea-horses, embellished by rose-cut diamond scrollwork, to the tapered panels of similar design depicting a Triton and Nereid, to the clasp designed as the head of Neptune, mounted in steel and 18k gold, circa 1880, 2¼ ins. diameter, with French assay marks, in a purple velvet fitted case
